TD New France Festival: Informative, Satisfying, Rejuvenating!
Quebec City, August 5, 2018 —The 2018 New France Festival presented by TD came to a close this afternoon under a blazing sun. Thousands of participants flooded the Quartier Petit Champlain and Place-Royale areas, enjoying history, celebrating and trying out all sorts of local delicacies.
“I’m so proud of what our team created once again this year. Visitors flocked to the event, be it for our daytime history-themed entertainment or for the music shows at the TD Stage. Shout out to Offenbach for bringing place de Paris to life,” said Benoît Bernier, president of the New France Festival.
Popular New Activities
The Patrol Parade launched the festivities with great fanfare at place the Paris, where a dense crowd awaited it at the end of its route. A cheerful cacophony took hold of the area as rousing entertainment stirred visitors, who eagerly enjoyed CuréLabel’s rock music that blends tradition and modernity. The escape the room event by Défi-Évasion, “A Voyage Through Time”, proved to be a great success, and the 11 history conferences rallied throngs of history enthusiasts and curious neophytes alike. Cartier versus Champlain amused many thanks to its hilarious and sharp-witted characters.
A Renewed Gourmand Offer
The ever-popular Barbecue of Yesteryear served huge turkey legs, delicious boar burgers, tender ribs, rustic corn on the cob and flavorful shrimp rolls. The Gourmet Market offered a brand-new selection of delicacies that pleased every palate. Distillerie Fils du Roy empowered visitors to discover local alcoholic products during happy hour tasting sessions. Finally, the Inn and its colorful innkeepers created a festive ambiance through history-themed entertainment and music shows.
Many Tourism Multipliers Participated
The New France Festival hosted Mexican media, Quebec bloggers and influencers (Nomad Junkies, L’hôtesse de l’air, Découverte Monde, le Cahier) and many tour operators, including a group that collaborates with Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. The group of bloggers and influencers notably enjoyed a fencing crash course! Such tours were offered in collaboration with Québec City Tourism, the Alliance de l’industrie touristique du Québec and Destination Canada.
The next edition of the TD New France Festival will take place from August 7 to 11, 2019.
