Description of the 2017 Medallion

The 2017 Medallion is a reference to the first two colonists of New France, Louis Hébert and Marie Rollet. Hébert, a man of many trades, is notably regarded as the “father of agriculture” in New France, and is therefore represented by the wheat sheaf. The open book symbolizes Rollet, who worked in educating local Natives.
