Word from our elective officials

Our government is committed to supporting activities that allow Canadians to discover their rich heritage in a way that is both entertaining and original. That is exactly what les Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France has done for two decades. In addition to reimagining the experience of colonists in 17th and 18th centuries, les Fêtes helps stimulate growth in the tourism industry, one of the fastest growing sectors in the world, which produces large economic benefits. For all these reasons, the Government of Canada is proud to support this major celebration of our history.

Congratulations to the organizers for creating a programming lineup that encourages Canadians and international tourists to immerse themselves into the heart of New France. We thank you and wish you all another successful event!

The Honorable Pablo Rodriguez

Minister of Canadian Heritage

The Honorable Navdeep Bains

Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development

Our government is proud to support the Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France, which enable festival-goers to relive the 17th and 18th centuries. Visitors can enjoy a unique experience focusing on gastronomy, historic reconstitutions or period clothing, which explains the event’s growing popularity.

In addition to raising the profile of Vieux-Québec and the Capitale-Nationale region, this major festive event is contributing to the diversification of Québec’s tourism offerings and engendering significant spinoff for our economy.

We warmly urge visitors to extend their stay in the region in order to discover its magnificent attractions, a novel way to take full advantage of the pleasures of a Québec summer.

Enjoy the festivities!

Caroline Proulx

Minister of Tourism

Geneviève Guilbault
